Metal refinery CCTV upgrade in Essex, Secure Engineering has upgraded the electronic security system at a large metal refinery in Essex.
The refinery specialises in several complex metal processes, including injection and compression moulding parts for industrial use, tools, mobile phones, and the medical and automobile industries, among others. The valuable metals involved in these processes make it vital to ensure that the refinery has reliable security and CCTV coverage at all times.
The site initially had a long standing CCTV installation of around 35 cameras. The requirement was for a complete security control room modernisation / upgrade and the design and installation of a brand new CCTV and perimeter intrusion detection system.
Secure Engineering worked closely with the customer to design and install a state-of-the-art advanced IP installation that enables coverage of the entire site perimeter, as well as safety and security monitoring of the internal site and buildings. The system comprises of a mixture of 98 High Definition cameras, including PTZ and static cameras with Infrared capabilities, with 44 cameras dedicated to video motion detection around the perimeter of the site. The new system utilised Samsung IP cameras, the very latest in NVR server technologies and security analytics monitoring software.
The live images are viewed 24 hours a day, in several locations on site, as well as recording to more than 72 terabytes of raid protected storage, across three enterprise-grade Network Video Recorders. Infrared lighting around the site ensures that it remains secure throughout low light conditions, whilst minimising light pollution.
Secure Engineering faced a challenging deadline to complete the upgrades to the control room, and get critical parts of the system working before the Christmas 2014 break. Two teams of Secure Engineers initially worked on site, with a dedicated Project Manager on site three days a week to co-ordinate the fast moving progress. The final stage of the project was completed in late March, with sharp focus on customer satisfaction throughout.
