SecurityNewsDesk.com - a product of  Security Media Publishing - was launched in January 2011 and is a news and product information portal for the entire security industry. SecurityNewsDesk.com covers everything from company news and products to legislation, regulation and best practice.

Philip Ingram MBE, Managing Director

philipPhilip is a “card carrying” journalist with business experience gained from sales and marketing at director level in the steel industry and setting up and running small businesses in the past.  He has a detailed knowledge of the security industry from a practitioners perspective and now reporting on industry events and news in writing and on camera. Philip had a long and senior career in the British military and was awarded the MBE by Her Majesty in 1996 and has other military awards.  He is a member of the Institute of Directors and has written several articles for their regional publications and edited 3 satyrical publications in the past. In addition Philip provides mentoring for students at a local university business school and for service personnel being discharged through injury.

Tim Compston, Features Editor

Tim

Tim is a respected journalist who has written numerous cover stories and other articles for a wide range of media outlets across the security and transport sectors, many with an international reach. In addition to his journalistic skills, Tim has 24 years of experience in business-to-business Public Relations (PR). He was formerly the PR director at Compston PR and is a past chairman of the PR Committee of the CCTV Section of the BSIA (British Security Industry Association) and a two-time chairman of the BSIA’s National PR Committee. In terms of industry accolades, the high point of Tim’s career was securing a Northwest IPR Award for ‘Best Trade and Technical Campaign’ for his consultancy work around remotely monitored CCTV on behalf of RemGuard Visual Management.

Peter Mawson, Commercial Director

peterPeter is the driving force behind Security Media’s commercial relationship management and is a seasoned business development and media professional with over 15 years experience in media and commerce. From a career that began in the music industry in the UK, Peter has worked to grow bands, magazines and businesses. Over the last 15 years in the security sector he has developed high profile initiatives and worked behind the scenes with key clients to expand markets. Clients like Sony, Panasonic, JVC, and Tyco (among many others) have collaborated to achieve their business objectives. Peter is also a member of the Company of Security Professionals whose aims are to create and nurture a culture that secures the principles which protect people, property and liberty.

Mak, Creative Director

makAs Creative Director Mak determines the best way to visually represent the company’s identity, both online and offline and is responsible for spotting, developing and deploying ideas into the global market using tools such as social media marketing. He has over 10 years experience in design, with a degree in Graphic Design and has worked on projects for universities, small businesses and charities. In addition, Mak is the Creative Director of Creative Astro, which covers all aspects of design from branding to film, and has also established a number of successful companies including Mak Training, Creative Astro and The Security Catalogue – which is now part of Security Media Publishing.
